A new recognition has emerged in Latvia: the Michelin Guide has announced the TOP country’s restaurants included in 2025 list. Who received the prestigious evaluations, and which places maintained their positions from last year? Tablein guide reveals all the latest news about the newly selected Michelin restaurants in Latvia.
In the 2025 Michelin Guide, 31 Latvia's restaurants earned recognition. What are the positions? This Baltic country received two One-Star awards, three Bib Gourmand titles, and one Green Star for sustainable practices, while the remaining restaurants made it onto the Michelin-selected list.
“We are delighted to welcome six new restaurants to the Michelin Guide Latvia selection. Each is a worthy entry in its own right, but the highlight has to be the intimate JOHN Chef’s Hall in Riga, which joins the Guide with a Michelin Star for its flavoursome modern cooking that showcases regional ingredients and perfectly mirrors the changing seasons.
Another restaurant worth a special mention is BABO. A relatively new opening it brings something really different to the Latvian dining scene with its authentic Georgian cuisine and wines.” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The Michelin Guides.
Michelin Guide debuted in Latvia last year, featuring 26 restaurants in the prestigious 2024 list. Brilliant news for the country's gastronomic scene: the vast majority of rated places kept their positions after the latest results were announced.
Unfortunately, the 2025 list no longer includes the Riga restaurant Aqua Luna, which held a Michelin-selected position last year. However, this is not related to the inspectors' decision. Back in August, Aqua Luna announced its closure, and in October, the restaurant began selling the building where it operated.
The 2025 Michelin Guide also welcomed six new debutants: JOHN Chef's Hall, which brought a second star to Latvia, as well as B7, BABO, LOWINE, Seasons, and Stage 22.
A Michelin Star is awarded to restaurants offering outstanding cooking with five universal criteria: quality of ingredients, harmony of flavours, mastery of techniques, the personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine, and consistency both across the entire menu and over time.
